President’s Blog – April 2011

Greetings ACS colleagues,

Not too much from me this month, as there’s plenty of good things to read about in this E News edition.

However I will say this; Thanks to all those who attended the two Opening Ceremonies we had for the ACS HQ. They were fantastic!!! It was so good to see so many smiling faces in the one space. Remember, the HQ/Clubhouse is there for all Members and supporters of the Society, so please feel free to drop in and say hello. Enjoy a coffee from our flash machine, relax in the Bruce Hillyard room, check out the Robert Feeney Archive and exhibit displays, browse through the interactive Hall of Fame display or watch something in our screening room. You never know who you might bump into!

2011 National Awards are almost upon us…looking forward to it, I assure you. The announcement of all the Tripod winners and the Milli winner is something special.

Once again this year the Awards will be screened on the Movie Network Channel, STARPICS on Saturday, May 7 at around 10.30pm. Thanks to the CEO of the Movie Network, Tony Forrest for his support and to host, Renee Brack and the program Producer, our very own Robb Shaw-Velzen.

Don’t forget to have your say in the International Cinematographer of the Year award. Voting closes soon, so don’t miss out! Who will it be this year? Maybe, Wally Pfister ASC, Roger Deakins ASC BSC, Matthew Libatique ACS or one of many other fine cinematographers from around the globe.

Hope to see you at the National Awards in Adelaide at the end of April, or at the Kodak Q&A.

Until next time…
Ron Johanson ACS
National President
