Raeburn Trindal ACS ~ Mount Hagen

Vale – Raeburn Lyall Trindall ACS (16.1.1935 – 30.4.2014)

It is with great sadness that I advise the membership of the sad passing of one of our original ACS founding members, Raeburn Trindall ACS.

Beloved husband of Janice, loving father of Tiffany, Rowena and Cameron.
Father-in-law of Ashley and Holly and Grandfather of Trinity, Brendan and Angelica.

Raeburn was the son of well-known artist Lyall Trindall, an Archibald Prize finalist in 1952.

Raeburn Lyall Trindall ACS was a very unassuming man, a brilliant cinematographer and a truly dedicated family man, who will be missed by his many ACS colleagues and friends. He began his career in 1950 at Associated Film Laboratory before joining Movietone News in the camera department in 1955 as an assistant under the legendary Syd Wood ACS. He was soon elevated to being a Newsreel cinematographer and remained there till early 1961 – then went freelance as a cinematographer, often working for the TV networks, Cinesound Review; Commonwealth Film Unit and Army Public Relations.

He was an early member of the Australian Cinematographers Society and Accredited on 7 May 1966, with Certificate number 59#, and made a Life Member on 28 May 2006. He served on the ACS committee in the years 1967-1969 and was Assistant Treasurer during the 1967-1968 period.

Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.

A private funeral has already been held.
