ACS Elections

Online voting system and simultaneous branch elections

By Peter Curtis ACS Election Committee Chair

Each year eligible ACS members have an opportunity to engage and contribute to the Society by…..
– nominating to stand for election as branch president, branch delegate or as a member of the branch committee
and/or
– participate in online voting.

An eligible member is an active or retired Accredited, Full, or Camera Crew member. To be active a member must be financial.

The annual nomination and election process came about when the ACS Constitution was updated in 2024. The overall structure of the ACS remains the same, but the way we run the elections and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Society is different.

The nomination period begins in late September/early October and lasts 3 weeks.

The eight branch elections take place simultaneously over the first three weeks of November.

The results of the elections are declared at the AGM of the Society at the end of November. All branch presidents and delegates automatically become members of the national ACS board.

Nominating and voting is primarily done online. This means all eligible members, regardless of geographical location, are able to participate in the process.
