Boris Janjic (d. 14 Mar 2024)
The ACS would like to remember and celebrate the contribution of pioneer cinematographer Boris Janjic who was a big mover in Australia’s early film history. Along with his brother he shot multiple documentaries and commercials and became infamous on one occasion when shooting an advertisement from a helicopter that crashed on top of Uluru. Boris was filming as the helicopter went down and he and the camera survived intact. Those on the helicopter were later charged by the National Parks for disturbing the peace and damaging a National Park site, and littering! Those were the days.
