Online voting system and simultaneous branch elections

From the end of September each year eligible ACS members will have an opportunity to engage and contribute to the Society in the following year by nominating to stand for their branch committee in the annual ACS election, held in November.
This annual election system was brought about by the 2024 rewrite of the ACS Constitution. The overall structure of the Society essentially remains the same, but the way we run the election and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) is different.
This election replaces the multiple individual branch elections, formerly carried out at branch AGMs. The election determines the branch presidents and branch delegates to the board, plus the members for each branch committee.
All branch presidents and delegates automatically become members of the national ACS board.
From 2024 voting will practically be done online. This means all members, regardless of geographical location, will be able to participate in voting for their branch committee. In early October there will be a three-week window to nominate, followed by another three-week window in early November to vote.
The ACS Annual General Meeting (AGM) continues to be held at the end of November after voting concludes and the results of the election are declared at that time.
