“What I try to do is get into the soul of people” - David Brill, ACS

Legendary cinematographer and journalist David Brill, ACS, has won many awards over his career, been inducted into the Australian Cinematographers Society Hall of Fame, and in the 2017 Australia Day honors he was recognised as a Member of the Order of Australia for his contribution to journalism and Tasmania. David Brill’s first big story was filming (for the ABC) the devastating 1967 bushfires in Tasmania. He then went on to work for Four Corners, covering the Vietnam war, followed by a posting to the ABC’s New York bureau. He’s also worked for aid agencies and as a video journalist for the SBS Dateline program and is the subject of a book called ‘The Man Who Saw Too Much’.
